Import Contacts

If you want to create a group of contacts, please follow the procedure below:


  1. Create an excel, csv or text file, having the phone numbers and all the personalized data in columns, so as to import them in a group.
      ATTENTION:
    • Permitted birthday formats are the following: DD/MM (e.g. 19/05), DD/MM/YYYY (e.g. 19/05/1975), DD-MM (e.g. 19-05), DD-MM-YYYY (e.g. 19-05-1975). The birthday field is MANDATORY if you wish to use Birthday SMS Service in order to send SMS with your wishes on your contacts' birthday. Note: To change the date format, mark this column in the excel file, right click and select Format Cells. Then select the desired date format and press OK./li>
    • Insert phone numbers for Greece and Cyprus using the following formats:
      • 003069XXXXXXXX, 3069XXXXXXXX, 69XXXXXXXX.
      • 0035799XXXXXXXX, 35799XXXXXXXX, 99XXXXXXXX.

    • In order to insert international phone numbers it is necessary to enter the international dialling code first (e.g. 44xxxxxxxx for England) otherwise the phone numbers will not be recognized and no SMS will be sent.
  2. In the menu "Phone Book", select "Import Contacts".
    • If you want to insert a new group of contacts, select "Create a new List" and write the name of the new group.

    • If you want to import your contacts in an existing group, which was created in the past, select "Add contacts to an existing List". Then in the field "Select a list", choose one of the existing groups to insert your contacts.

  3. Press "Next".
  4. Select one of the following ways to insert your contacts, depending on the file that you have:
    • Import from Excel file
      If the file with your contacts ends in .xls or .xlsx, select "Excel file" and in the field "Select a file", press "Select". Find your file and press "Open" to upload it. When the upload is over, a green dot next to the file's name will show you that you are ready to continue.

    • Import from Comma separated values file (.csv)
      If the file with your contacts ends in .csv, select "Comma separated values file". In this case, you will have to choose the delimiter character, which separates the data in your file.
      Then in the field "Select a file", press "Select". Find your file and press "Open" to upload it. When the upload is over, a green dot next to the file's name will show you that you are ready to continue.

    • Import from Text file
      If the file with your contacts ends in .txt, select "Text file" and in the field "Select a file", press "Select". Find your file and press "Open" to upload it. When the upload is over, a green dot next to the file's name will show you that you are ready to continue.

    • Paste contact details
      In this way, you can copy and paste your contacts and all their personalized data, if you have them in an excel or text file. Follow the steps below:
      Open your file > Mark the columns with the data of your contacts > Right click > Select "Copy" > In Yuniverse form select "Paste contact details" > Right click in the box > Select "Paste"

    • Add a single contact to the list
      The system allows you to insert only one contact, with as many personalized data appear on the form. You have to enter the phone number with the international calling code in the beginning and if you want the name, surname, title etc.

  5. Press "Next".
  6. Your file is read by Yuniverse, so you have to give some details. If you upload an excel or csv file, you will have to declare the sheet, where your contacts are. E.g. Sheet2
    Then, you will have to title each column of the sheet with the name that describes each one of them. On the top of each column, select the representative title.
    Also, check the box next to the phrase "Add my country" prefix in front of every phone number, in case it does not start with it.

  7. Press "Import list".
  8. The system will inform you not only about the contacts that were imported, but also about the duplicate contacts or wrong (written with symbols or unreadable characters). Press "Close".
